SPOLIN BASED ACTING CLASSES - "Get out of your head and into the space..." - Paul Sills
Ed is offering a series of Spolin-based improvisation acting 2 hour workshops starting in March. Class size is limited and is for adults only. His improvisation classes are useful for a variety of people who are looking to improve their audition, callbacks or to build on their current techniques. Reggi's former students are working professionals in St. Louis, LA, Chicago and New York City. (Classes are also helpful for other types of performers who need become spontaneous in their jobs.)
This is not an improv class where Reggi coaches the students on how to be "funny" or instructs them on how to tell jokes with an interesting character voice. In Ed's class you will work on building core physical skills rooted in Viola Spolin's work. Spolin's work has been used by Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Avery Schrieber, Valerie Harper, Alan Alda, Jeremy Piven, Kathleen O'Hare, Chris Farley and many other professional actors. Improvisation acting provides an excellent method for any actor to get instant critical feed back regarding their acting authenticity. Excellent for film actors or stage actors trying to make that transition to camera work.
Reggi will work for 4 hours every Monday night starting 6:00 PM at the fabulous Black Cat Theatre at 2810 Sutton Boulevard in Maplewood. Cost for this 5-week series of workshops is $125. (When I offered this class at COCA it was almost double this price so you are getting a real savings!)
Reggi's First Night Paper Slip improv cast included: Bill Chott, Jamie Pitt, C. David Harrison, Chris Hartman, Michele Dumoulin, Greg Cuellar, Warren Arnold, Hannah Kiem and Darrell Barber.

"I have been teaching acting workshops at the Missouri Thespians for the last 5 years." The three-day Missouri State Thespian Conference is scheduled at the UMSL Touhill Theatre during the first week in 2008. Last years' highlight was Reggi receiving a standing ovation with cheers when they introduced all guest artists.

YES
AND is the act of total agreement in an improvised play. For example: when two people play the game CHECKERS, the players agree to play
CHECKERS with its understood rules. In the middle of the game neither player can change to playing GO FISH. This is true with Improvisation; the players must agree to everything revealed, always advancing forward.
